An article in Nursing Notes (https://nursingnotes.co.uk/number-older-people-unmet-care-needs-soars-record-high/) summarizes a report by Age UK, showing that 1.4 million older people are not getting the help they need to deal with everyday tasks like getting out of bed, going to the toilet, and getting washed and dressed.

This number amounts to 14% of the age 65+ population in the UK, or about 1 in every 7 older people.

The present study shows a marked increased over previous years; data reported by Age UK in 2016 showed 1.2 million older people without adequate support at that time. According to Age UK data roughly 810,000 older people faced this problem in 2010, so this year’s data show a 73% increase in the number of adversely affected older people.
